1ST DUE HOUSE FIRE At 0151 this morning RVFD, along with Talbot Co. Sta.80 (QAHVFC), Sta.600 (Greensboro), Sta.300 (Denton) and CCDES PM-14 were alerted for a working house fire at the end of Saddleback Lane off of Cherry Lane in the 4-8 Box. Chief-4 (Utz) checked up responding and was advised by Caroline that they now were receiving numerous reports that this was indeed a working incident. Chief-4 arrived to find the incident at the end of Squires Lane and reported a 2 1/2 story dwelling, fully involved with a residential LP tank on the Delta side venting, and established "Squire Lane Command". Command quickly secured an "All Clear" from the homeowner and advised all incoming units that this would be a defensive operation. Eng.401 (A/C Gunderson) arrived and laid a supply line just short of the culdesac, and deployed two hand lines. The next two engine companies were also assigned to assist Eng.401. Command made A/C Gunderson the operations officer. Water supply was established at Tuckahoe State Park by Eng.703. Both Tanker 606 and 706 were placed at the scene as nurse tankers. Tower-310 arrived and was placed in the drive way and began to ladder pipe the residence. Request from command were made for the State Fire Marshal, Delmarva Power, and the Red Cross to respond to the scene. After extensive overhaul, the assignment was placed under control. One firefighter was taken to Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal. Thanks to Church Hill VFC for standing by at the station.
