On Sunday, April 6, 2025, the Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department conducted a controlled burn and live fire training exercise, with support from the Queen Anne-Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company. The training took place at a donated structure in the Ridgely area, providing a valuable, hands-on opportunity for firefighters to sharpen their skills in a realistic environment.
Throughout the morning, crews focused on exterior firefighting tactics, including hose line advancement and pump operations. While interior firefighting was not part of this exercise, the use of the structure offered personnel the chance to operate under realistic fireground conditions in a safe and controlled setting, guided by experienced officers.
Live fire training exercises like this are essential for preparing firefighters to respond effectively in real emergencies. They help strengthen both individual capabilities and coordinated team response. The Ridgely VFD sincerely thanks Queen Anne-Hillsboro VFC for their support and extends its appreciation to the community for their ongoing encouragement and assistance.
We are always looking for dedicated individuals to join our team.
